Staff complete and pass their Forklift Training course

Last month, three members of staff participated in a Forklift training course carried out by the company A+ Lift Truck Training, who provide ‘on site’ training; as a result, the training was carried out in our workshop using our own equipment, specifically focusing on our counterbalance forklift truck. Steve, our lead technician, Ian, one of our workshop technicians, and Linda, our accounts manager, spent the day learning the key practical skills of operating a forklift truck, understanding the principles governing safe operation and similarly learning about the risks and hazards associated with operation.

In addition, the training also covered essential tasks such as pre-use inspection and basic routine maintenance. After practicing the training under supervision, our staff were then tested through practical assessment and written examination. We are proud to announce that Steve, Ian and Linda all successfully completed and passed their training and are now fully certified counterbalance Forklift operators, congratulations!

Celebrating a busy summer

At the beginning of the September, on a Friday afternoon, we held a mini-celebration in the workshop to commemorate all the hard work that each member of staff has put into the business over the summer. June, July and August were quite busy months for Turbine Tools, with high workloads and quick turnarounds, all of which wouldn’t have been achievable without the strong teamwork, determination and overall efficiency of the staff in the workshop and the office, particularly during the hot weather, which made for difficult working conditions, to which we recognize and appreciate everybody’s endurance - it is something that will be improved going forward.

In addition, we also used this time to say goodbye to James, who spent the summer working for us in the workshop focusing on the calibration side of our servicing. During his time with us, James proved to be an important asset to our team; he consistently made sure that work was carried out thoroughly and to the highest standard, so thank you James - we hope to see you again next summer.

Dinner and Go Karting for our after-work social

We recently had a well-deserved and long overdue after-work social to celebrate our recent achievements, such as the move to a new, bigger premises and the employment of new staff, who have already shown great signs of progression and skill. The fact that our after-work social events allow us to spend quality time with each other outside of the office and workshop is particularly important to us being a small business, where teamwork and communication is key.

We enjoyed dinner at the Parson’s Pig, a local pub in Crawley, and afterwards went to TeamSport Karting, an indoor go karting track in Crawley town centre, where Ken, Steve and Ian participated in the venue’s special ‘race night’. Our three members of staff competed against ten other teams in total; it was a very action-packed evening that involved lots of pit stops, the changing of drivers and adrenaline. Although we didn’t win any of the races, our three drivers thoroughly enjoyed themselves and the rest of us had a lot of fun cheering our team on from the sidelines! We look forward to our next after-work social.
